First of all, I am so sorry for my lack of blogging. I have not been a very good guest blogger, so my apologies. I’m sure, once bro is back from retreat, he’ll have a lot of wisdom and insight to share. For now, however, you’re stuck with me.
That being said, I’m ready to move on.
I don’t know if this is blog worthy, but it provoked major prayers, so I’m going to share. This weekend I had a friend visiting from out of town and we were doing some touristy things on Saturday. As we were walking out of the Natural History Museum (we went there to see the Butterfly Exhibit of butterflies from all over the world. The exhibit was actually sold out, so we could only see them through the glass… bummer. ) a man – looking inconspicuous (so I thought)- handed me a sticker and said, “here this is for you.”
I took the sicker and looked at it. “It’s for people who are cool. Are your friends cool?” he asked while Catie told me to “throw it away.” We kept walking. Within a second I dropped it out of my hand. Everything happened so fast, I didn’t even have time to think. We quickly started praying the St. Michael the Archangel prayer. I didn’t realize the creepiness of the sticker. It had some sort of voodoo face and there were no words on it. It was smiling, but really creepy looking. I guess I just innocently accepted it. Anyway, the whole experience was disconcerting and a little horrifying. I still don’t know for sure why the man was handing out those stickers, but I can take a wild guess… I mean, he wasn’t advertising anything. He was just standing there with his back pack handing out stickers.
Lesson to be learned: Do not, I repeat do not take things from strangers!!
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle
Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou o prince of the heavenly hosts, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.
I came back and doused myself with holy water!
