The Church really knows how to bring in a new calendar year–by celebrating the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God on the first day! In becoming the Mother of God, she also became our mother because Jesus—the God-Man—is our brother!

“You take it ’cause I don’t want to worry about it!”

New Year’s Day i did the smartest thing I could: i gave 2009 to Our Lady and through her hands to Our Lord that it might be a holy year pleasing to God.
