January 24th is St. Francis de Sales day. He was bishop of Geneva at the time when in many Catholics were becoming Protestant. One of the ways that he would effectively bring them back was by dropping off tracts that he had written explaining the Catholic faith. No doubt that many people were moved by his great kindness. St. John Bosco chose him as his patron of his religious order, the Salesians, because of his method of teaching. if I had to pick one saying of his about effective evangelization I would choose:
“It is easier to attract more flies with honey than with vinegar”
