so today is the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist… God sent him to preach repentance in anticipation of the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ… St. John told it like it was and didn’t care what people thought of him.  There is a great preacher of a priest named John… I’ve heard him speak in person and he tells it like it is and doesn’t care what people think of him. Some think that he has a messiah complex but they couldn’t be more wrong… like his namesake he doesn’t deny it but admits that he is not the Messiah…  John is the precursor announcing the coming of the Lord…  it is God Himself who set him apart.  Father John is also misunderstood and maligned…  they want him off with his head— but no matter, Christ will glorify his servant and wisdom will be vindicated by her children. (cf. Luke 7:35)
