I’m overcome by a deep sense of peace (you know, the kind that tells you everything is going to be okay) every time I see a baby. But that same feeling is all the more greater whenever I see a picture of the Infant Mary. Despair, sadness, and discouragement all take to flight when I behold the baby Mother of God. I think that at the instant of Mary’s conception, and at her birth, the entire universe must have exalted: everything was going to be okay; the mother of the Promised Life-Giver arrived. Tomorrow, Catholic and Orthodox Christians celebrate the birth of the Mother of God; it is day for many around the world to express a special love and devotion for the Holy Infant Mary, most notably in Italy where they call her Maria Bambina, baby Mary.
Little baby Mary please pray for us.
